Matrix Combat Steps
Step 1: Build Your Attack Pool
-
Choose the attack program you want to use (like Attack, Black Hammer, or Blackout).
-
Add the attack program’s rating to your dice pool.
-
Add your Cybercombat skill rating to your pool.
-
Subtract any wound modifier you have from Stun or Physical damage.
-
Subtract any matrix damage modifier from your pool.
Step 2: Roll & Resolve
6. Roll your dice pool and count your hits.
7. The defender rolls their defense pool and subtracts their hits from your hits:
-
Net Hits ≤ 0 → Attack fails, no damage.
-
Net Hits > 0 → Proceed to damage calculation.
Step 3: Calculate Modified DV
8. Add your net hits to your attack program rating; this is your modified DV.
9. Tell the gamemaster the attack program you used and your final modified DV. The defender will attempt to resist the matrix damage you have inflicted.
Quick Reference Table
| Step | Action | Pool / Calc |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Build attack pool | Attack Program Rating + Cybercombat – Wound Modifier – Matrix Damage Modifier |
| 2 | Roll & compare | Your hits – Defender’s hits = Net hits |
| 3 | Damage calc | Modified DV = Attack Program Rating + Net hits |
| 4 | Report | Tell GM attack program and modified DV |
